ETHICAL FARMING FOR A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE
Ancient Pelatella Breed in Campiglia Marittima
Ancient Pelatella Breed
The Pelatella breed embodies an authentic historical-cultural heritage in the Campania pig tradition. The term "pelatella" derives from "pelata", indicating bare and hairless skin. The pelatella breed has a characteristic slate-grey pigmentation on the skin, with a few sparse and thin bristles arranged in small tufts scattered over the body. This peculiar morphology gives the pig a unique and recognisable appearance, contributing to its cultural identity and the prestige that distinguishes it in the agri-food panorama.
L' Antica Razza Pelatella is a project born from the vision of Luca Patrone, with the aim of making the philosophy of our company, founded on tradition, ethics and sustainability, accessible to everyone.
Luca carefully selects and breeds the Ancient Breed To play.
The breeding adopts traditional methods, respecting animal welfare. The animals grow outdoors, in large and natural spaces, following a growth cycle that never falls below 18 months. This approach guarantees superior quality meat, distinguishing itself from the Cinta Senese DOP, whose minimum breeding period is 24 months.

The diet, based on barley and field beans, is carefully designed to ensure a balanced nutritional intake, promoting healthy and sustainable growth.
The meat of the Black Pig is characterised by a balanced flavour and reduced fat content compared to Cinta Senese, while maintaining a rich and palatable taste.
This makes them the ideal choice for those seeking a lighter product without sacrificing quality and ethical and sustainable farming methods, values that are at the heart of our company.
